Step House
concept
This house is located on a hill in downtown Yokohama.
The terrain of the area generates sloping paths, engraving light steps to the sky.
A series of fun memories of childhood such as foot races, taking detours, and hide and seek is inspired by the “steps” of the building, provide precious moments in life.

The roof terrace and outside stairs draw a silhouette of the house from the earth.
A centrally located stairwell is filled with natural light from the skylight.
The view of the garden through the transparent glass after opening the entrance door is one of the key elements of the house.
Conveying “Welcome” with a surrounding seasonal landscape of beautiful flowers is a core principle of the house.
